Cop killed, two suspects held: A policeman was gunned down within the jurisdiction of Bahadurabad police station here on Monday May 30, 2011.
A police team intercepted a car during snap checking on Karsaz Road. SHO Mohsin Haider said that two of the four men opened fire on police, resultantly, a police constable Taj Mohammad, 50, son of Maqsood, suffered severe injuries and died.
He said the police arrested two accused, Suleman and Nisar, while their two accomplices managed to escape. He said the accused were the residents of PIA Township and their parents used to work in PIA.
The officer further said that the victim was the resident of Manzoor Colony and hailed from Bahawalnagar.
The body was shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico-legal formalities.
No case was registered till filing the report.
